RL125 Collecting Chips in Back Right Corner

So I have been using RL125 for few months now. It is an older (2003) machine that I bought used.

When I pull the drum to change the bag there is always a load of chips, that collect in the back right side corner, that end up on the floor. In order to avoid that I pretty much need to change the bag half full. Is this normal?

I should add that the drum fills in that corner causing the chips to pile up above the drum and into the corner cavity above.

If this is not suppose to happen then could it be a sign that I need to change filter?

As I write this, I am wondering if I could just simply add something in that corner to prevent collection. Will check when back in shop to see if I can do this w/o obstructing something. It is a pain to sweep floor every time I change bags.

Anyhow, I have adjusted the wipers to 10mm with no difference. BTW, are the filter pleats suppose to be loaded with chips? It seems to work fine but not sure if it will work better if that was not the case.

Another factor could be the flap at the inlet. Seems to work fine but just thought I mention it, in case it can cause the uneven fill.

Cannot really help here,

However, on my RL140, I have some dust coming down when I pull the cart, mostly from the side where you have the inlet. It should correspond to your back right corner. Just a droplet, so I vacuum it. I never let the bag get full. As an hobbyist, I am not consuming enough bags to bother with the number of bag I consume. I change them when it is about 3/4 full. I also always vacuum the inside of the RL, including the filter when I change the bag, so this area cannot accumulate too much dust over time.

I guess this is due to the design of the machine.

Thanks Bill. I really think that they should have a cheap throw away pre filter. That would prevent the chips from getting lodged in the main filter pleats.

My homemade air scrubber has a 2¡¯x2¡¯ low Merv pre filter.?

From what I read on Internet they do offer a solution for chips/dust lodged in the main filter pleats: antistatic filter. I am not sure how it works, but I guess if this is like antistatic hoses, dust should not get attach to it and thus chips should have no way to cement with dust in the pleats, and the cleaning brush should remove the chips if any.

Imran,

Did overfill the bin today and I got a lot of dust falling down when I pull the drum. As the bin was more than full on the right (where you have the intake in my RL140), it makes sense for the dust above the bin to fall when the cart is removed.

It was the first time I saw some daw dust through the windows of the bin. I guess I planed and jointed too much boards during Christmas.

Yup, rear corner of the intake side. I have been pulling the bin before i can see the chips in window and still get the pile on floor.

I have pulled the bin way before it is full and can see the it being almost full in that corner.

I ordered new filter. Will see if it makes any difference.
