outrigger for KF700S

For the KF 700S the Felder catalog lists the 1300mm outrigger as standard, while also listing the three lenghts available for the slider.

Yet, I have been told that if you get anything other than the 8 foot slider, you must choose the 1500mm outrigger. Can anyone confirm whether or not I can order a 9 foot slider with a 1300mm outrigger??

I recently ordered a KF700S. I was considering a 2800 slider, ended up with a 3200 slider with 1500 outrigger. I did not explicitly ask about the 1300 outrigger, but I had the impression that it was an option. Your salesperson should be able to give you a definitive answer.?

Hi Acharya,
Although you haven't asked this, but having purchased the KF700S with 9' sliding table and knowing what I now know, I feel I would have been happier with the longer table.?
Also, removing the outrigger table is a PITA so I rarely do it.? Attempting to do any sort of jobs with the spindle moulder (with the outrigger in place) is frustrating.? Again, knowing what I know now, I would have purchased a seperate machine for my spindle moulder.??
Cheers
David

Hi David:

I have separates so I have no experience using a KF700, but I’m surprised by your comment that using the shaper with the outrigger in place is a pain. For me — having no experience — I’d think you’d just move the sliding table along so that the outrigger is not in the way. Or if it is a sliding table locking thing, I’d just slide the outrigger along the p-channel, and out of the way.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
Lucky

David, do you have the outrigger cart? It makes? removal a 30 second procedure.

I had a cart for my KF700 and as Jonathan said it is quick and easy.?? I don’t have the little ears on my 940 to use the cart so I was considering selling it, where are you located?

I have the KF700SP with the 10’6” slider, and the 4’ outrigger. Sorry, I don’t think in metric, so I just used an imperial tape measure to get rough measurements.?

I remove the fence from the outrigger, and slide the outrigger as far to the right as it will go. Then I use the shaper with the power feeder with no problems. ?The outrigger support arm is a tripping hazard that one must adjust to. It’s not an ideal solution, but it works for me.?

When I do freehand shaper work, I remove the outrigger so that I can work without the tripping hazard. So far, no problems.?

Like many of you, I agree that separates are the best option if space and budgets allow.?

Stay safe,

Alex
