Yes, lots of prior discussions but on one of those it was mentioned the Highland Woodworking "Wood Slicer" and I have been using both 3/4" and 1/2" with satisfactory results for a non-carbide blade.

Can you drill an appropriately sized hole in a hefty block of wood, then cut the block in half through the center of the hole, and use that to clamp the spindle in a stout vice to hold it? Cheers

Turn it 90? in the vise so the slots dig into the wood jaws. That might hold it rotationally well enough to get it loose. Also, it might toast your socket, but an impact wrench would be much more

I would look at DMS out of Colorado, they make the Patriot machines (Who SCMI is now peddling as well). All ball screw, extremely stout. If¡¯n I had the money, that is the one I¡¯d be looking at.
