Hammer A3-31 Guard Hardware Question

Hi! I am new to the FOG. I got a new (to me) first generation A3-31. Love it so far. I am having an issue where the guard doesn't hold its height and I noticed when I turn the knob on what I assume to be the tensioner it doesn't do anything.?
?
I am guessing the hardware was taken apart and put on wrong, because I can't seem to understand how the current order of nuts and bolts would actually do anything. Does anyone have one of these machines and can take a picture of the proper order of nuts and bolts?
?
Or, better yet, have a parts diagram for the machine? I can't seem to find one anywhere.?
?
Thanks!
Dan

If that head whitehill uses the standard 40mm knife pin spacing the profile is a standard commodity.? Its available from a variety of manufacturers/resellers Just one example?

Did you check with HotKnives?
not sure if they make limiter head cutters?

Re: mounting Aigner rails on cast iron machines

I would still use the centering drill bit initially. Standard drill bit can flex so it¡¯s best to start with centering drill bits. Machining accurately in any kind of metal is unforgiving. If for whatever reason you drill a couple thousandths off from where you intended, it can have unintended consequences.?

I found an unbranded version for it for $170

With a mag drill, do you think I'll need the central drill bit with the mag-drill or a regular metal drill bit will be sufficient?

Netenel,
?
I agree with Martin in that a Mag-Drill will insure the hole is perpendicular to the plane on which the Mag-Drill is set. ?Layout is key. ?Accurate use of a center punch will provide a starting point for the first drill bit, and should prevent the bit from "walking". ?I would start with a small bit, use cutting fluid, and work my way up to the desired final drill size.?
?
Good luck,

If you have the space I¡¯d recommend renting a Mag-drill.? They are usually available from most good rental shops and it will ensure the hole is plumb.? Using a center drill bit initially will ensure that the bit doesn¡¯t ¡°walk¡± from the target: ()
?
Otherwise, it shouldn¡¯t be difficult to drill into cast iron. Just use a lubricant and don¡¯t try to go too fast.?
?
The most difficult part is to layout the holes accurately. Use centering transfer punches :?

mounting Aigner rails on cast iron machines

I am about to install Aigner extension rails on my Bandsaw and J/P.

Probably some stupid and naive question, but I am afraid to make a mistake on my machines.
The Aigner spec specify a 9MM holes. I wonder how hard is it to drill through cast iron with a portable drill?
Should I make a wooden jig to make sure the holes are drill perpendicular or just try to keep the hand drill straight is good enough?
Is cast iron soft enough to drill a 9mm or should I use a pilot hole and increase the hold diameter with multiple drill bits?

Hello, I have a Whitehill 125 x 55 x 1?" - Flush Mounted Limiter/Rebate Combi Head for Felder / Hammer Machine and I am looking for a US source for Whitehill 8.75 x 9.75mm Glue Joint Profile Cutter knives.? I can get them from Whitehill but the cost of shipping is as much as the knives themselves.? I suspect there is an alternative source but I have yet to find one.? Any ideas?? this is my first inquiry on the FOG so In case my name doesn't show up, it is Marty.

Re: contacting you to post Felder & other accessories items for sale

Hello, John,

I would like to purchase?your Shaper?Tenon?Hood Dark Green with side pieces. I would want to confirm that it would also work on my Felder 531 Profession combination machine, 2018. I believe it does. Are you able to confirm or can you send me pictures of Shaper Tenon Hood and side pieces so I can confirm its suitability for the Felder 531.

Please let me know. How do you wish to be paid?

Hello FOG moderator,? My name is John Ormsby. I used to be a FOG member years ago. I had a KF700S and also a BF7-41 that I split to make it more usable. I closed down the shop around 2014 when my wife and I sold our property, which had a shop. I ended up keeping some Felder and Aigner accessories and some cutterheads in the hopes of getting another Felder down the road. I've since retired and do not have room for another slider and other larger woodworking equipment. I still have some accessories and would like to see if anyone on the FOG might be interested in purchasing some items.

I included an attachment with a list of items I would like to try to sell. I can adjust the list with items of your approval. It would probably be better for me to type in the items in the message instead of as an attachment on the FOG for sale section.

Thanks much, John??

BTW, I am in Caldwell, Idaho near Boise. I used to live in the Sacramento area.

Here is an updated list naming it #3 . I made some corrections and added a few things. Thanks.

Re: Kipp lever on 731

the hardness of the steel looks to be 5.8 metric standards.? Should be able to have any machine shop to turn it down to specs rather easily. The shaft is burnished smooth.

Many, but not all Kipp levers on Felder equipment have custom shaft sizes and features that are non-standard which is why I suggest posting some photos illustrating the specific lever and what it¡¯s used for on your machine. ?I can turn down the Kipp lever Felder sent you and I also have an account with KippUSA if it comes to that. ?
