Re: VIP Program from Felder

I have a DGL and I like the fact that you can cut an accurate angle to a fraction of a tenth of a degree. The tick marks are at 0.1 degree and you can easily prorate between them. Yes the crosscut length is a bit short but I find the length markings fiddly and just use a clamp anyway.

Re: VIP Program from Felder

Another important difference is the crosscut fence.

DGL has fixed crosscut fence (690mm), EGL has extended crosscut fence up to 1350mm.

690mm is kind of short.

If someone was thinking about getting and EGL or DGL, now would be the time to buy it.? Normally, when they are added to the sales they're like 3% off.

Thanks Jonathan. stop-water is interesting idea. i will have to double check my pics if they used them on viking ships i saw in Colorado and Minnesota. missed it on PBS show about restoring schooner coronet, although they may not have used them with modern glues.

Shop doors are okay as this was 20 yrs ago and i was learning carpentry/framing building the shop. i did everything except roof decking & shingles, wife put the kabbash on that.

so tops of rails should have been beveled to shed water. the Xs should have stopped short of corner to allow caulking of the rail/stile intersection as i have done on the left side on the new outer skin.

yes a long diagonal can be done but it would be easier to do two and i cannot see that one is superior to two.

Casadei is owned by SCMI.? the machines are very close to SCMI in design and build but priced a little better.? There may be some internal differences but they are generally pretty decent machines.? Dave

I am not super familiar with all industrial manufacturers but find F25 shaper in this auction interesting. For people with concerns of height variation with sliding tables, this one has fixed table but allows for a short slider for tenons. I know Martin has that option but that is out of price range for most. More interesting, it shows shaper fence mounted 90 deg to normal and a sliding table attachment mounted to the side. I have not seen this before but like I said I am not super familiar with all that is out there.

???????? Your doors look really nice. That's one of my favorite colors too.? There's so many ways to make doors, whatever works. ?

Re: electrical features for sawblade on KF700

well, the pros and cons are obvious, fast, easy and pricey :)

It really depends on what you do. If you frequently?need to make the non-thru cut at different height and angle, then it is worth it. Otherwise, forget about it.??

Get DRO on crosscut / rip fence and digital height adjustment for the shaper. That is what I have for my KF700sp, no regrets.
