Re: What sandpaper grits to order?
开云体育
I don't go above 120 on the little Rigid but use it mainly to shape sand.? On the widebelts I don't go higher than 180.? The oscillation and platen give a little better finish than the grit would suggest and 180 turns into 220 after a few passes so that is
as far as I go.? If I want a higher polish type sand I use the ROS.? 150 or 180 off the planer is what I use most often.? With high grits you need to be very exact in setting the depth as you can only err a few thou before screwing up the paper.? Dave

I have the Northstate 16” WB sander. Even though manual says 16” belt I received it with 17” wide belts and I do not see anything wrong with the width. This is a freebie question, please let me know if you have any suggestions?
Okay, so this WBS is new to me and I received it with 80, 120 & 150 belts. 120 & 150 seem close. Planning to order 60, 120 & 220. Sound good? I also just bought rigid oscillating sander Came with 80 grit on belt and drums. Klingspor has a set of 60, 100 & 150. Do I need any higher grits? On belt I am ordering 40, 80, 150 & 220. Sounds good? As far as materials go, solid soft & hard woods, ply and occasional metals on the rigid. Thanks, Imran |

Re: OT: Spray Gun Packing Material
开云体育I have.? If you start clicking on the different guns, you'll find that most of the gasket kits are "no longer available."? It appears that parts that you break or lose (triggers, bowls, etc.) -- i.e. parts you don't need often -- are still available, but simple maintenance parts are not.? I looked at all of their current designs, guessing that this part might be interchangeable and tried to find the maintenance kits.? It wasn't available for any of them.? Which basically tells me:? never by another tool made by Campbell Hausfeld unless you assume it to be disposable. That said, it appears some of the fluid control kits are
available, which do include the packing material -- along with a
bunch of metal parts I don't need.? I think I'm going to start by
cutting some felt and seeing it that works better than the o ring
I'm using. On 5/27/2020 6:31 AM, Jerry P wrote:

Re: OT: Spray Gun Packing Material
Agreed - I have guns with either teflon or HDPE/uhmw packing, but it seems strange the part can't still be ordered more easily than "making something work". Brett Wissel Saint Louis Restoration 1831 S Kingshighway Blvd (at Shaw Blvd) St Louis, MO 63110 314.772.2167 brett@... |
Re: OT: Spray Gun Packing Material
Every manufacturer seems to make a different packing nut for their needle. Without seeing the part its hard to help but a piece of heavy?felt or piece of thick leather might help. Just pierce the material and let the needle do the sizing. My guns use teflon seals that are only cleanable, when worn have to be replaced. OT: Spray Gun Packing Material
This is slightly off topic, but I figured the collective wisdom here might set me straight.? I have an older Campbell Hausfeld spray gun.? The packing material around the needle has deteriorated.? I've substituted a #004 o ring for the moment, and it's better, but not great.? Unfortunately, it appears Campbell Hausfeld doesn't bother to sell replacement parts any more (I've looked).
Does spray gun packing come in standards sizes?? Alternatively, can you get it by the sheet?? It occurs to me that I could laser cut a new part if I just had some of the raw material. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely certain what it is.? It seems like some sort of felt, but the old one is too far gone to really figure it out. Anybody thoughts? (Yes, I know I should just go buy a new spray gun . . . I'm planning on it, but I'd like to get a little bit more out of this old beater, and I hate to throw it away a perfectly good tool for want of a 25 cent part.) -- Michael Garrison Stuber |

i really wanted to go to IDF this year being back east, I have been told that it is bigger and better than Vegas, which I have done twice now. I will skip this go around and maybe next time. I also signed up for all Joe Calhouns classes for this year and very happy that Greg has decided to postpone them to a later date. Some day we will be back to normal or a new normal, time will tell. I turn mine quite a ways around so it’s not really in the way. Machine is a CF741 with the Felder gas strut swing-away bracket.
