Re: 160 mm dust collection ducting in the USA

My Blastgate Co order arrived, and I got it put up over the weekend, being a spiral pipe order
?
All in all, happy with the pipe and most of the fittings, I had some problems with the size of the Male-Male (Pipe-Pipe) connectors, about 50% of them were too large, Blastgate Co sent out replacements, and had about the same yield, was able to make it work, but a little frustrating.
?
As for mounting, I opted for hard mounting of the ducting to the walls and ceiling using Unistrut and a collection of 4" and 6" clamps built for EMT (had to use some spacers to make it Gud-N-Tite, so maybe order 3.5"/5.5" if you were going this route. Its much better than the PVC mix I've been using and very happy with the purchase.?

Hi Bram,
Maybe the C-3 has been modified from 1999, my plate is shorter and with 3 screws holding it down.

I have the big Hammer cam clamp and don't like it at all, another big fan of the Automax, and the t-nuts you can buy:

Hello everyone,
?
For sale I have an Amana Adjustable Groover #61342
?
I don't care for this type of adjustable groover and have only used it twice for small jobs. It's basically brand new.
?
Specifications:
?
New cost is $440 + tax and shipping. Asking $400 + shipping from NYC.
?
Thank you,
Steve

Re: Hammer B3 questions

I have used the Kreg Automaxx clamps for three years. I tried a clamp by Milescraft or Anchor (I do not recall which), but it does not automatically adjust for thickness. The Kreg clamps are a little fussy to use, but get the job done.
?
?
I had a friend make up some aluminum T-nuts to use with them. Before that I use a wooden T-nut with a threaded insert.
?
I have Mac’s clamps on order. They are not cheap, but have a loyal following. How much can you get for a kidney?

Hi Morgan,?

There is also a wonderful 3 cut method that works great too. ?And you can even employ a dial indicator if you wish to really get it dialed in.

Thx,

Hi Morgan,
?
1- Lots of methods available, if your familiar with 5 cut, do that. There is also an option to attach a straight edge to the blade and use a dial indicator along it's travel.
?
2-Felder do sell them, but you can also print them, make them, or people like Ramon Valdez do make some for certain models, but likely expensive for shipping?
?
3- Check the parts diagram to confirm, but if you need an adapter, automotive adapters, dust collection adapters or 3D printed ones are all options
?
4- Milescraft T-Track hold down, modifying a Kreg Automaxx or using a track clamp with an adapter are all cheaper options. Quick search here should show some examples.

Re: Hammer B3 questions

David Best demonstrates a method of using a large and accurate square with a dial indicator. I use this method, and find it to be quick, easy, and accurate.
?
You can find this demonstration at the end of Mr. Best’s YouTube video “Sliding Table Alignment for Felder Equipment”. It is about 37 minutes into the video.
?
It does require a substantial and accurate square, which is not easy to get. I use one made by Lamb Tool Works.

Re: Blade to Fence Capacity on BF6-41 w/retrofit fence

And I said in my opening post that I had 30" between the blade and fence but it is actually 36" with the fence placed as shown in the photo. I think this is plenty for me and I do have a track saw for those rare occasions when I need more capacity. Also, going further out, there is no support at the table. I'm sure I could rig something but not worth it. Getting rid of that protrusion will make it so much easier for me to get around the saw as I have to walk clear around the room now to get to the other side. It is a tight fit.

Hammer B3 questions

Hello again,?
?
I have a couple of questions that have probably been answered in here multiple times, but I’ve had a search across prior topics and haven’t found quite what I’m looking for (probably my bad searching!).
?
So, here goes…
?
(1) - Outrigger fence adjustment
?
What is the best way to adjust the fence in the outrigger to get it square to the blade? I’m assuming the 5 cut method, but maybe there’s another way.
?
(2) - Zero clearance inserts
?
Where can I buy zero clearance inserts - I’m in the UK.
?
(3) - Extraction hose diameter
?
Is the hose 100mm internally to the saw? If so, is there a suggested adaptor that I can replace the stock adaptor (100 internal, 120 external) with that bolts in place of the standard one?
?
(4) - 3rd party hold down solutions
?
I like the idea of the eccentric hold down clamp for the slider, but clearly not the cost from Felder as I don’t really want to have to sell a kidney.
?
Are there any 3rd party options that do a similar job? I’m thinking I’ll just use a toggle clamp and make something up myself, but wondered if there was any enterprising soul who had done this already.
?
?
Thankyou for any suggestions you can give. So far I am really impressed by the help in this forum, it’s easily the best I’ve ever used - by a long way!
?
Cheers,
?
Morgan

Re: Replacement of internal dust hose is K3 Hammer slider

1999 C3-31 uses 100mm hose. If an adapter as is being discussed became available I would buy one.?

Re: Blade to Fence Capacity on BF6-41 w/retrofit fence

My impression is that most members here are in bigger shops and need to preserve the capacity to push a lot of sheets through their machines, but there are others working out of a 1-car garage sized space of about 12' wide and that creates a squeeze on both sides. My 1999 C3-31 came with remarkably poorly designed miter and fence and both had to be replaced, the fence with a Unifence exactly like yours (without the extrusion upgrade). I cut my Unifence down as you are proposing and no regrets but again I cut very few sheets.
