Re: Selecting a dust collector
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes, Bill Pentz has done a tremendous amount of research in the field of dust collection and the Clearview cyclone design was based off of Bills Specs. Most of the dust collectors sold do not capture the small micron dust that is hazardous to your health. ?Some of Bills cyclone designs and ideas have been copied by other companies like Oneida. ?I¡¯ve spoken to him several times and he¡¯s been approached by several of the common dust collector manufacturers for advice but when it comes to paying any royalties or other money for his ideas, they¡¯re usually not interested in paying him. ?We mostly assume, as did I, that what¡¯s out on the market for dust collection, is designed correctly and the specs are accurate but I think Bill has proven this not to be the case with some manufacturers. ?I believe he¡¯s still reachable by telephone or email for advice. ?I usually make a small donation to his website for his time and advice. On Dec 28, 2023, at 10:01?AM, pierre.bourassa via groups.io <pierre.bourassa@...> wrote:

Re: Selecting a dust collector
I got the clearvue max, I run 8" mains, 6" drops , 4" gates off the 6" drops. Works great.

Re: Selecting a dust collector
I have had an Oneida 3hp Super Dust Gorilla for the past 15 plus years.? It has been awesome and completely trouble free.? The suction is great and I added a dust bin sensor and a pressure gauge to monitor it.??
I am selling that too!? Not because I do not love it, but because the shop got bigger and I wanted to only do it once. I highly recommend Oneida, great customer service and great products.? Now having said that, I would not buy ducting from them, they are not the best price out there. PK |

Chris, I purchased one from Just Tools (in Perth), but they have closed down in Oz. I searched on the Web and noted these ones on Ali Express.

Re: Eccentric clamp alternatives?
Thank you so much splinterboy!!! This is above and beyond! I really appreciate this. That's exactly what I needed. Now I understand everything. Thinking about laminating a slice of HDPE under the washer as sliding material. The idea of making 3 or 4 t-nuts is a fantastic idea.
Thanks again!! |

This is my solution. It clears the large kip lever. Kindest regards Jonathan Samways On Wed, 27 Dec 2023, 7:30 pm Wade Dees, <wjdsignature@...> wrote:

Re: Eccentric clamp alternatives?
Chris, ? The dimensions are not super critical. ? You want the T-nuts to slide easily in the slot. ? If you are making them, check the fit along the entire length of slider as some of us have found that the extruded slot is not completely uniform and you may have a tight spot. ? Make several nuts and insert them on both sides of your normal fence set up so there is always one where you need it. ? Make the large washer at least as big as the Felder one so you don't distort your table. ?Add a soft face to the underside.
Below is one of my Kreg clamp t-nuts. ? I did not come up with this idea but it is brilliant as these clamps are much easier and quicker to use. ? You just drop them in the keyhole slot and slide them over. ? These do need to be pre-adjusted for height as you don't screw them in (which is why they are so convenient). ? A couple of set screws allow you to adjust the nut for a nice sliding fit in the slot and match the top surface height for all of your t-nuts. ? This allows the cap screw head be set once at just the right length to engage any of the t-nuts without any further adjustment (some thread locking compound is helpful here). ?? There's an ever easier option if you happen to have Festool clamps and lack machining access. ? ?A simple piece of off-the-shelf T track can be put upside down in the slider slot and and used with the Festool track clamps. ?The fit is a little sloppy but this is a 5 minute project if you have the parts handy.? |
