Re: Couple more questions
开云体育That would be fine my bushings are on 10 mm increments some longer.?You want your package to be tight. Most important thing to pay attention to is everything is clean and no burrs treat these parts like treasures? martin/campshure/co/llc Designing and building for 50 years On Jun 30, 2023, at 7:02 PM, Larry Long Neck <longneckwood@...> wrote:

AD941 installing fence support bar
Hello FOG members,
Could someone with an AD941 chime in on the proper assembly order for the support bar hardware. ?Felder shows one thing in the manual, but then supplies the bar with these “spacers” that came already on the threaded rod. ?Not sure if I remove these spacers or use them. ?You can see them circled in red. ?And, according to the manual, it appears that I don’t use the large washers at all. ?Maybe these were for shipping purposes only.? Thank You, Wade |
Re: Couple more questions
Thanks for the input, Mac.
How about something like a 60mm tall rebate cutter that is a single, solid block. If you had 25mm top hat bushings on both the top and the bottom, would the 10mm gap in the middle be a concern? I suppose that I'm wondering how important it is to try and find an exact height match set of bushings for each cutter, compared to using a set that is "close enough" (whatever that may be). -- Larry Long NeckJust a noob trying to learn the ways of wood |
Re: Couple more questions
开云体育I don’t know what David does ,?I have sleeves to fill the space. Example cutter set up that use 4 cutters that are 1.25 or common 40 mm cutters don’t just float in the abyss with no support.? I also build packages with sleeves that are threaded. So complete with no piecemeal separate ?sleeves and bushings. These can be set with spacers so they are referenced with spindle down and no set up. Re: Couple more questions
David B,
When buying the top hat bushings, do you have any rules you follow about matching the height of the bushing to the height of the cutter block? For example, if you had bushings that only filled up 50% of the height of the cutter block, would that be a potentially bad situation? -- Larry Long NeckJust a noob trying to learn the ways of wood |
Re: Couple more questions
Agreed. Why buy both. You can buy groovers for 30mm or 1-1/4.? Whitehill sells great adjustable groovers for both bores and they are pretty reasonably priced.? On Fri, Jun 30, 2023 at 5:32 PM David P. Best <dbestworkshop@...> wrote:

Sorry to butt in, BUT - I’ve never understood why someone would buy two spindles just to get access to both 30mm and 1?” tooling. ?Changing spindles is a PITA. ?Whereas adapting 1?” tooling to a 30mm spindle with the use of inexpensive top-hat-style bushings is less expensive and easier on the back. ?Two examples: David Best DBestWorkshop@... https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidpbest/collections/ https://www.youtube.com/@David_Best |
Re: Couple more questions
Hi Ray, there are a few reasons I wouldn’t buy the C3, I went with a B3 & A3 setup
1) the saw rip fence is now the the fence from the K3 Basic, and when mounted on the jointer outfeed table it only reaches to approximately the Center of the blade. It also isn’t the standard saw fence extrusion so it doesn’t have the same high/low capability as a standard saw fence 2) rip capacity is 900mm which is fine for me, may not be for you 3) the shaper spindle doesn’t tilt, that’s a real issue for me 4) the C3 really needs a square shaped shop as you need access on 4 sides as opposed to 3 for 2 function machines 5) I would purchase both an 1 1/4” and 30mm spindle so you can share grooving tools and saw blades with the saw Regards, Rod |

开云体育Well, the files you create in the “Makers” version can only be used in the Makers version, you can’t import/export them to other platforms or softwares. You can export .stp or .iges files and use them elsewhere, but they will be “dumb”, no feature tree or ability to modify with any sort of intelligence. It is also a cloud based software, you only rent the right to use it and have to pay monthly or yearly.Brian Lamb blamb11@... www.lambtoolworks.com

Re: Cf741 rip fence issues
开云体育Hi Simon,I can’t tell how far off the part is from “flat” from the photo. ?But it looks like there may be enough material to machine the part so that it is flat. ?This might be an option if a replacement is not available. ?I am also wondering if part of the problem might be how it is attached to the base. ?Was it originally too wide where it is bolted to the base, and squeezed into place, causing the bend. ?It looks like a piece of cast steel or cast iron. ?They are prone to breakage if they are stressed too much, but they will bend, to a point. Good luck, Alex

开云体育Simon The interesting thing is how is something like this missed for 16 years.I don’t know if this is still a current part I would replace as it is Lilly to be screwed up in two axis. Hi Wade, yes I do mean not flat. Thanks for the clarification. Although we only noticed this because after undoing the hand screws and pulling the extrusion back, the fence was out of square with the blade.?
