Really sweet machine Joe.? Even if it turns out to need 460v, that machine is well worth the cost of a transformer.? I've got to research the Langzauner.? Dave

I "won" today at auction an edge sander that I've been looking for at auction for a couple of years.? Apparently the Euro veneer sanders are scarce in the US.? This was has the feed belt built in with a top mounted pressure bar.? This machine was built
for 230V/460V but it's wired for 460V so I will need to get that sorted.? And I will need to again order more Nordfab pipe.? Now the fingers crossed wait to make sure it arrives safely.

Re: Excellent Free Resource
开云体育Oops, the bit below was about “Cabinet Making and Millwork” which was written as a college textbook for the millwork industry.? Love the other book too. ?

? Hi Imran Thanks for sharing that link the book looks really useful. One of my go to books for problem-solving is the Encyclopaedia of Furniture Making by Ernest Joyce, updated by Alan Peters. There is a chapter on carcass building that refers to the Design Manual for Cabinet Furniture published by Furniture Development Council. I suspect that this book was published a very long time ago and I’m not even sure that the so-called Furniture Council still exists. But it sounds like a really useful guide to the structural design of cabinets for stiffness and longevity. I tried to track it down but can’t find a trace of it has anybody heard of this book? Re: Langzauner LZK-3-NCV Edge Sander - new to me
开云体育If it is a dual voltage machine 230/460, then all you should have to do is change the wiring connections and possibly some “heaters” if it uses them in the contactors (picture below). This is/was pretty common in the machine shop. Nice looking machine!

Re: Langzauner LZK-3-NCV Edge Sander - new to me
开云体育I used a broker for a Felder shaper from Denver and I will use them for this.? The shaper was put on a pallet and wrapped in saran wrap by the seller.? Shipping with $10K of insurance and lift gate service on both ends, and an extra fee for a pickup from a storage rental center where there couldn’t get a truck in was only $650 which I thought was pretty good.? I’m tempted to drive and get this but it would be way more expensive.? No quote yet for shipping this one. ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]>

Re: Milling tongue and groove panelling plus using power feeder on jointer
开云体育I’ll add the opinion that a power feeder should almost be considered mandatory on the shaper.? I used a shaper for maybe 25 years without a power feeder because I believed it was only a production thing.? I ended up building 56 cabinet doors and decided to get a feeder for the job. WOW, the consistency of the cut, and the ability to climb cut.? I feel like I didn’t really get the full value from my shapers for the first 25 years.? Power feeders are pretty cheap on Craigslist if you live near a large city.? Here is Phoenix there are always a couple for sale for under $400. ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]>

A power feeder could be about the only safe way to climb cut on a molder.? This could be handy when working with a difficult material. |

Re: Screws
Thanks for the tip, Jonathan. The HECO Topix screws look similar to GRK but in stainless, with a finer finish and some variations in the screw and milling tips. They look really good and available in the US via Amazon, surprisingly.? .? Their catalog has an impressive array of screws for buildings as well - no wonder German houses don't fall over in the wind! Here's the other Austrian version of a handle. Never considered the finger smashing, as this one takes care of that problem as well.

Shipping lines are pretty tenuous these days - are you sure it didn't say January 2022 ? I had items shipped that arrived here in containers yet took a full month just to pass import inspections and get out of the port.
