Ibsenafshar,

What is the name of your repair place. ?I don¡¯t know of any places that do repairs like that near me.

Thanks,

Joe

The place I go to can't determine if it is working correctly because they don't know what normal operation looks like, but they often repair older electronics they don't have any information about, mostly old guitar amps, keyboards, crossovers, etc. They just go through and replace every possible failure prone component and all the capacitors for $150 to $200 and it usually works fine.?

I¡¯m a big fan of the Shaper. I¡¯ve had the gen 1 since shortly after it was released. I¡¯m on the kickstarter for their trace product as well.?

Dave,

After talking with the Shaper team extensively abou the Gen 1 vs Gen 2 differences, I opted for the "Gen 1" system.? It consists of the Gen 1 unit, The workstation, the Shaper Plate, The customizable Systainer and a free 8mm x 35mm bit.? It all stacks in systainers quite nicely, even though I will probably take the units out of the systainers.? The deal was approximately $190 extra off the bundle on the web.

Grand total; was $2749 plus tax.

Re: AWFS Updates

David,

I forgot to mention that this bundle did also include the screw-on safety finger fence (not the aigner integral one).

PK,
?
I did add on an aigner fence, swing away mount, tenon plate, table extensions, and related mounting hardware as part of my order. I got a discount for buying them at time of the machine purchase.
?
I reserved a machine that was already built (or being built any day now?) and scheduled to arrive here by October. I can't imagine needing to use tenon discs larger than the 250mm ones that fit inside the fence, so I wasn't too concerned about this configuration not being set up for the tenoning hood already. I will, however, have to learn how to drill/tap holes for an aigner bowmould hood at some point in the future.
?
Btw, how did the new screen look in person? I haven't been able to find many videos online that show it being used, but I'm super excited about it.

Re: AWFS Updates

Larry,

The AWFS deal for the profil 45z x-motion is the best deal I have seen in a long time.?

It is basically what I paid 2 1/2 years ago for my 10hp unit.? I did get the Aigner Integral fence as part of my price.

I added the swing away arm for the power feeder and the extension wings.

If you plan on using a tennoning hood, make sure you opt for the pre-drilled and tapped holed for the Felder hood.

Re: AWFS Updates

David,

The shaper kit I got is the one listed on Felder's AWFS deal page here?

It's the new model with the bigger touch screen, the big 13.5hp motor, and a 1 1/4 spindle. It also included the exterior spindle lock, a crosscut fence, and imperial scales (not that this one matters).?

The price listed on the deal page is what I got it for - $20k, which is around $5-6k below list price for the stuff in that bundle. My rep mentioned that the AWFS pricing is around $2-3k lower than it would be during other non-tradeshow events like the end of year sale or spring sale.

He also said that you can apply AWFS discounts to custom orders as well, so if you wanted a different configuration, you could get a nice discount regardless of what you pick. I believe the sale ends after this week.

Hello everyone,

I attended the AWFS show this year on day one and day two.? The turnout of attendees was pretty robust this year.? The vendors were hit and miss.

Great Felder booth with the kappa 450 on display.? They were doing lots of demos of PCS as usual.? They had a profil 45z x-motion with the new touch screen.? They were deep on the edgebander selection!

For you Martin guys - no T32 combo on display.? They said it is coming...? I am less impressed by the new machines fit and finish but they showed the implementation of the iPad with the new T14 shaper.? I like that it has the touch screen for the machine specific stuff and the iPad for programmability (at least that is what I thought it looked like).? Martin had a Widebelt machine that was branded Martin (But said EMC on the front too.? Weird, because I am pretty sure Felder bought EMC).

SCM did NOT have any L'invincible stuff on display - disappointing because the market is there for competition.? They now have a safety system like PCS for their saws.

The Altendorf "Hand Guard" slider is an amazing machine.? I am not sure that I am an Altendorf buyer, but the system is well implemented.? I wanted to ask about the scoring blade retraction but never got back to their booth.? Their system pulls down the main aggregate as part of the regular function, but does not seem to be connected to the scoring system.? I wonder if it is done separately or if it is not part of the system.

Lots of great insights but I did not see a ton of innovation. I did gain more contacts and expect to have a few more resources to connect with.

I was able to get a smart stand from Kyle at shop gear.? Also pulled the trigger on a Shaper Origen full set up.

I wanted to attend the Alpine dinner, but Family stuff got in the way.

There were some great show deals to be had!? I keep getting closer to my quest for a widebelt.? I am stopping by tomorrow to pick up my Smart Stand.? If you have any interests that I missed that I could check for you quickly, Let me know ASAP!?

Happy to help. That is the purpose of this group. On mystery diode, I could not tell for sure if there was one on the top side of your board since that part was in shade in the picture - kind of looked like something was there.

Good luck with repair of the board.

?Imran, you are really saving me today. I have almost that exact schematic but it is dated exactly 1 year older, 25.3.98, and was clearly drawn by someone else in a completely different style. About the only difference is the 'without brake' dashed line to ground.
FelderHQ Austria is not responding to my email so I will remove the board and take it to the repair shop today.

Finally I believe the mystery diode is located on the top of your board.

Your miter gauge looks great. Would you consider posting the CAD files to the files area so that others could make one too?

Re: Failed engine brake 220v single phase C3-31

Hi Rodger,
that diode is very small, too small for that. The diode you refer to may be the big one with what looks to be a 1/4-20 nut on the back of it. Silver colored on a heat sink.

Hi Brian,

For my machine a single ground wire needs added to bypass the brake board. That is, if the brake board is removed this wire needs to be added to run my machine.

Check your schematic it should show a dotted line with verbiage of Ohne Bremse or something Bremse.

As for repairing, it is easy to detect when a part is cracked open although no guarantees that something else that visually looks okay isn¡¯t bad.

I can take a pic of the new board installed in the KF it is still about 20 Yrs old because brake board failed rather early in the life of the machine. I remember it being identical.

I am still curious about the diode on the back side of your board. Are you the original owner? You can also compare your board to mine to see if a diode is missing from topside and it was easier to place it on the bottom due to tall components each side.

I did do a quick check and the vias used to solder the diode on the back side do not have a diode on the top side on my board. However, it might still be connected between the same electrical nodes as one on the top side.

There is a repair shop I use to repair large (40 amp) electronic dimming modules that fail at about 20 years due to capacitors aging out. Drawback is they take a long time to get to it. Do you think the saw will run if I remove the board to have it repaired? Or is there an easy way to jump around it?
I've sent this info to FelderHQ in Austria.

Re: K 700 S electrical question

Hi Craig, does the saw have Wye/Delta start? ( also known as Star/Delta)

Most saws that size have that feature?

If so, it¡¯s easier to start than standard across the line starting.

Make sure that your saw has the electronics and control supply fed from the 2 non manufactured lines¡..Regards, Rod
