Re: KF 700 SP options

Glen get the basics so you can get the machines setup. Keep it simple to start, most Felder blades work really well and will get you started and are typically easy to aquire. If you want some wacky Japanese blade that takes six months get and you have sell your firstborn to buy it can wait. Most saw/shaper tooling on your side of the border is available next day and can be acquired as needed IMHO

Felder 12" rip,?

Felder 12" crosscut. It will crosscut both hardwood and veneer stock. use scoring with veneer, I've also in a pinch ripped hardwood, cut melamine with scoring, no chipout

Felder Dado set? 200mm. I've used this unit and it performs great and can be used to setup shaper with 30mm spindle. It will cover 90% of all dado and grooving needs that are typically encountered.

Another blade is Leitz 12" Glueline, that again IMHO is a superior performer.

Mark,
I am following your venture here. I am where your at.. make choices. I can tell you without the people here I would have made some bad decisions. I have learned more from this forum than anywhere else.
David Best and many others here know there stuff. some day I will too, but for now these guys helped me greatly in deciding what i wanted to buy and needed. I am at the point of you maybe, time to buy the stuff for the machines. Blades, Cutterheads, ect. My machines are here on pallets and I need to figure out some tooling before commissioning. This will be an interest part of the project.
Glen ?

David's explanation is the best I have ever seen. I think what you really have to ask your self is what type of work are you going to do with it and will it help that process? Projects in my shop seem to always be one offs where nothing ever fits any standard not have any repetition. This type accessory I think is very nice but for my work it would be a complete waste of $$. YMMV. Good luck making your final choices. I am on a quest to figure what blades to buy...
