Okay, so I received the Shars Aventor caliper today.? I will say that I'm very happy with the initial feel of the caliper.?? The slide action was a little tight, but moving it back and forth a couple dozen times loosened it up some (seems like very tight tolerances) ? I've read that this tightness is common on some calipers.

The body is actually thicker than my 6" Mitutoyo:
?
6" Mitutoyo = 3.47mm thick
12" Aventor = 4.14mm thick
?
Though I don't have a 12" Mitutoyo, so the comparison may not be fair.? I will post again in the future if I ever encounter a problem with this one, but initial impressions are excellent.? One thing I really liked about the Shars was the decimal-to-fractional conversion chart on the back.?

I had tried a Neiko 12" caliper a couple years ago and returned it.? That one was so flimsy it felt like a toy.
