Re: Help with moving a Felder CY731

I am sorry for your loss. Perhaps you have some of his work with which to remember him.
?
The slider should come off prior to moving. It is not hard to do so, but it is really a two-person job. Once off, the slider should be protected in a way that keeps the bearing assemblies from being damaged.
?
The table comes off my ACM (SCM) bandsaw to move, and I was able to separate the motor also. That cut the weight down to make it easier to handle.
?
Riggers can take care of things for that point on. Much depends on where you are and where you are moving the machines to. If you are moving to storage, or just preparing to sell and ship from the current location, have the rigger put the tools on pallets.
?
Depending on where you are it may be hard to find a rigger. In my area only one company was interested in working with me. Most just said they don’t do little jobs. The guy who did the work charged me $150 to take my saw off the truck when it arrived at his yard, another $150 to put it on his own truck to deliver it to me, and $250 per hour for a two-man crew (with a 4-hour minimum) to take it to my shop and get it off the pallet and into the approximate position I wanted it.
?
Good luck, and keep asking questions. There are some talented folks in this group, and they will help you to the best of their ability.
