Re: SCM FS 41ES/52ES

You forgot to mention that you only need to lower the planer table about 2” thus saving time and wear and tear on the motor lowering it all the way down to flip the dust hood on the Felder!

It took a bit more than 6 months, But my L’invincibile FS7 is finally here.

After speaking with Sam about delivery with both agreed it will be best if I’ll do a local pick up from
SCM. I picked it up earlier from SCM warehouse (and finally got some free swags from SCM :). It is a big and heavy machine (1216Kg)
Towing it for 300 miles was stress fee.
Getting the pallet of the trailer was PITA. Even after lifting the pallet with a pallet jack half of the crate was on the trailer and refused to move. Eventually I bolted eye bolts to the edge of the pallet on each side and used straps to pull it cm by cm until the pallet was off the trailer. From there building a wooden ramp was easy to offload the machine to the ground (and a regular pallet jack can used, as opposed to Felder equipment where you need the narrow pallet jack)

First impression of the machine - It is above my expectation, the fit and finish of this machine is top notch. The jointer beds are mirror finish and sliding wood on them is way easier compared standard cast iron with the milling machine marks.

?I tried to joint/plan some white oak boards with the default HSS Tersa knifes that came with the
machine. The finish is way better than what the spiral cutter head of my Hammer A3 gave me.
It also has plenty of power. I tried to planning down 5mm (12” wide board) and it didn’t even care or showed any signs of being under load.

The ready 3 system is really nice and so much better than the hand wheel of the Hammer.

The pneumatic hinges that raise the jointer bed works like charm. It is effortless to lift them.
The motorized planer bed is a bit slow.

What I really liked is the short changeover. No
more need to flit the dust port and hose from
side to side. It literally takes 5-6 sec to change from one setting to another compared to a minute that it took me with the Hammer machine.
