I have and use a sine plate in machining applications. ?Its use and applicability in woodworking is not at all obvious to me other than using it to set a bevel gauge. ?For woodworking applications, a precision protractor (like the ones discussed previously) or the Bridge City Angle Pro is a far better choice, although I still question the need for 3 decimal digits of angle accuracy in woodworking applications. ?Just setting the fence and arbor tilt to such a degree of accuracy is questionable, as is saw blade wobble, etc.

?In addition to the sine plate itself, you also need a set of precision gauge blocks to set the height of the free leg. ?Depending on the accuracy desired, you can spend anywhere between $?and $?on the gauge block set. ?Suburban makes a nice sine plate, but it¡¯s not cheap unless you find one used on eBay in good condition like I did.
