I started a purchase journey of a used 2011 Casadei Libra 10 37" single head wide belt sander about a year ago (basically identical to the SCM SD10 and built in the same factory).? It took a while to transact and I received it in August last year.? It was damaged in shipping (shocking I know - plus they lost the outfeed table!).? The insurance ended up covering the parts but since I was building the shop I could not get it hooked up to test.
Casadei USA - JKL Machinery, were great with getting me all the parts I would need for a 13 year old machine.
Two weeks ago I finally was able to fix the chain that is used to lift the feed table and finally try to power it up.? I have an EE background so I dove into checking want I could to validate there were no basic issues. I got some small wins, but I needed help.? I could not get it to do anything beyond powering up.
I reached out to JKL and they connected me with their tech person but before I could call them I had reached out to my connections at SCM to see if they knew of any repair techs in Southern California.? They immediately connected me to one of the SCM techs and he face timed me last night.? We went over the basics and he asked for the machine plate so he could get the electrical schematic.? He told me he would call me back this morning.? He called me at the time he said he would and we tested some voltages.? 5 voltage in he found an anomaly.? He told me to look at a pressure switch, and low and behold a wire came out of a crimped connector.? I immediately got a new connector crimped on and we powered it up.
She works like a champ!? He also walked me through the procedure to calibrate the bed after my quick repair I had done on it.
That is service!? No one asked for money (although I was willing to foot a large repair bill), they didn't point fingers, they just helped me.
I do not need any more machines at this point (famous last PK words) but it will be hard to not recommend SCM based on this experience with a used 13 year old wide belt.
SCM FTW!? (Sent him a GC to a local place to where he lives)
