The riving knife would do nothing to stop the kickback in Bill¡¯s video example nor small cut offs the blade turns down without the zero clearance. The great thing about the slider is you are standing away from most projectiles. As a kid I watched my grandfather standing far back while my father used the standard tablesaw to be hit by a piece of wood in the gut knifing in and sending him to the ER. I don¡¯t let anyone stand behind the saw or shaper.
