See the clear vinyl hose? There's a valve to adjust open to equalize pressure on both sides of liner to prevent the problem. Valve closed when no liner to prevent a recirculating load.
I have donaldson torit cyclone with the pants splitting to two 8 inch drops into 55 gallon drums.? I have the lid clamped to the barrel (seal under the lip of the lid).? Per the Donaldson people, to get proper separation, it needs to be airtight (pun intended Mac).? I don't understand? the transition from cyclone to bag without a clamp as Mac described it.
