Thanks for the info, Derek. A couple of comments and questions:
- How did you mount the head on the pillar when the thing arrived? Is this a well-prep'd one person job or does it need some sort of hoist?
- Is your false table painted MDF, or something else?
- The off-centre insert is a simple and neat idea that hadn't occurred to me, but I think I'd prefer square to make them easier to make - that would give eight "lives" per insert
- I would be worried about mounting a pillar drill on a simple wheeled carriage and, if I was going to use castors, would prefer to make brackets so the drill base was suspended below the (lockable) wheels. Have you had any worrying moments with your arrangement?
- I'm always slightly surprised when I read that the add-on crosshair generator remains accurate as the table height changes - has it been accurate in practice?
I think my heart has made the decision but I'd prefer to see one "in the flesh" to convince my head to spend the money. I can't find a local dealer so need to find someone near to Herefordshire that has one I can look at.
Nice work, BTW.
