I took a look at the planer and as you all suspected it was pretty gummed up. I removed the chip deflector beside the cutter head which was covered in pine resin. I removed and cleaned the resin and applied a coat of wax to hopefully make it easier to clean next time. There was a decent amount of build up on the drive drum as well, I took a wire brush and cleaned out as much as I could, looks pretty clean now.
Not sure what the best way to keep that drive drum clean as it is akward to get to, and tips would be welcom.
I do alot of work with pine, so I'll have to add cleaning to the end of each run as part of the PM.
