Re: 45 Deg Setup Square

Wade,

Sorry, thought you were trying to pivot the long xcut fence. It is a good idea to start a new thread with a different question so thick heads like me who can¡¯t read will give you a better answer ?

No sweat though, we all have been guilty of piggy backing a question somewhat related to the current conversation. However, search works better when the subject heading is directly related to the question.

That knob you indicated, is the pivot point lock. ?Tech said to leave that alone to set up for miters. ?The pic here shows the two handles I am suppose to move/loosen, which I do. ?Then I can pivot the fence down a bit over the outrigger, with no problem, but then when I pull on that small underside knob it doesn¡¯t allow the fence to slide either way. ?I¡¯m suppose to be able to get the fence to slide closer to the blade during a miter set up. ?Just kind of scratching my head right now. ?

Thx,

Wade

Oops! that is s different design than mine. I would try loosening the knob that secures the long fence to the outrigger until someone with your design chimes in. See red arrow in your pic below.

Imran,

Are you referring to this lever, picture attached?

Second pic is the knob I was pulling down on.

Thx,

Wade

Wade,

You need to loosen the kip lever at the end of the extrusion that has the angle gradations.

Imran,

So did you use your large cross cut fence to make these miters for the frame? ?I¡¯m still not sure why my large cross cut fence will not slide down away from the blade when I pivot for a miter set up. ?I pulled down on the small black knob under the fence, which is what the tech guy said to do, but it won¡¯t move. ?Not sure if there another step I¡¯m not doing.

Thx,

Wade

?Does using the 45 deg marking for the long xcut fence work for you to make perfect 45s, let¡¯s say for a simple frame?

I used my precision 45 deg square for making this frame but it is only 6¡± on the long side. Frame?is fine but not to my standard. Maybe, I should not have sold the frame square saw.

I found 2 options, if a setup square is recommended but there is no accuracy provided.

I know someone is going to suggest miter saw but not everything fits my miter saw.
