I?was also puzzled by the metal part that made it impossible to install the scoring blade on my K3. Besides that wonky metal piece, there was a bolt that intruded into the scoring blade space. I removed both. I put those two pieces into a plastic bag with all of the other miscellanea that I removed in the course of setting up my saw, such as the bolts used to secure the saw and other saw pieces to the pallet.
