I think there are only a handful of choices when buying MM or SCM.? They used to have a great guy at parts pronto that was very helpful troubleshooting but I believe that is no longer a good option.? The SCM machines are known to be repair friendly in the way
they are laid out.? My experience is with used as there are more choices at lower cost than Felder and given my not always brilliant method of buying very rare machines, I rely on the internet groups like this one and others more than manufacturers.? Dave

John,
That is a bummer. In USA, there is no charge for trouble shooting a machine. I guess there might be a limit but I have spent 1/2hr on the phone with a tech. I only bought my KF new and I have received help on 4 other machines that I bought used.
I personally think this is a very valuable part of buying from Felder - parts and service after sale.
On a related note, I was conversing with an SCM owner on another forum. Their setup is thru dealers. The service you receive is via dealership. I have no idea, how good/bad their service is but I do not want to be at the mercy of a dealership.
I am afraid that they might offer good service to a major client and not so good to a lonely hobby woodworker, especially one who bought a used machine.

I recently posted on this Group regarding a technical concern I am facing with my Felder CF731. I tried to contact Felder just to ask them the type of relay I have on my electrical board. But in my country, Felder unfortunately do not have an official branch and they outsource the sales/aftersales services to another company. This company ask me 150€/hour of time that the person will take to answer my question from his computer (I am not speaking about any repairment or a person coming to work on my machine). Is it normal? Do you also pay when you ask a technical question to your Felder tech support about an old machine? Jonathan |
