I would want a very stiff base for a J-P and I would mark the floor so I always moved it to the same spot when using it.? Dave

I vaguely recall going through that same exercise. ?Until I reinforced everything, all the steel just flexed. ?I notice that by lengthening, the side away from the bottle jack always lags the pump side. I think it is the connector bar having some twist in it due to the weight and extended length. It works so I haven¡¯t done anything about it, but you might consider welding it so the far side is pre-lifted a bit to counteract that. I¡¯d be interested in knowing if you try that and how much is a good amount (my guess is 1/4 to 1/2 in). Maybe solid bar rod would have helped too. I don¡¯t know what my welding guy used.?

?Thanks, all helpful. I too am constrained on space and will need to move it every time I use it. I too have the Felder wheels and lifting bar setup on my FB510 bandsaw. The approach is similar but beefier for the AD741. They work well on the saw but it's cumbersome for frequent use not to mention that you've got to find a place to store the bar. The Sawstop base is very easy to use, a few pumps on the foot pedal and it's off the ground and rolling. One step on the release and it's down. My saw configuration is about 800lbs.

In trying to determine the source of the 1,000 lb rating I contacted SawStop for the ratings on the bottle jack and wheels. No surprise, they didn't have the information and even if they did, I imagine it could be a liability issue to provide it. But in looking at bottle jacks on line the minimum rating seems to be 2 tons so it's probably okay. If the wheels are the weak link they're probably replaceable with higher capacity versions so going this route seems like a safe bet. It's also half the price of the Felder kit. ?Now, if I only knew how to weld.... but that's solveable.

As for shipping, they claim the ship it will be on is scheduled to dock in late November so I'm optimistic, but in today's virus colored world I won't be surprised if it's delayed. Thank you for your help, I'll report back when it arrives.?
