Almost for sure Bob means Eucalyptus which has so many species (wikipedia says 700 species!) it could be blue gum or red or who knows what as it is mostly native to Australia (with Gidday that is a hint).? Twisting a big issue, but my understanding is that is more species specific but hard and I'll take his word splintery.? There have been attempts at making flooring with it (maybe in CA where I live) under trade names like Blue something with no hint it's actually eucalyptus.? Fast growing and drops stuff (essentially poisonous to other plants) around tree so nothing else grows and devastating in fires as the oils ignite into nice hot fire. ?

I am not familiar with Ecalypt.? When I have a cut like that in wood that burns easily I do two things.

  1. Buy a new bit from a quality brand
  2. Make shallow cuts so the router does not have to slow down at all.

Gidday
Have a client from hell, fussy, AKA my daughter and partner
The want solid timber vanities 2x, made from recycled eucalypt ( hard and spllntery)
It will be oiled, I would like to keep burning to a minimum. The long section of the cut is in side grain, the returns in endgrain
Either hand router or Router insert in Felder KF
Seems to be only two bits- Ogee or a Finger Pull bit like the CMT one
Any comments on how to approach it?
Or should I find another daughter?
