Re: power package for KF700

Buy it all if you can afford it - you'll never regret it. If I had to save money, first choice is shaper tilt to go manual. I would never spend what it takes to be in the 700 series shaper or saw and not have powerdrive on the heights shaper or the saw. I use?the microadjustments?all the time on?critical work with blind cuts on the saw with little wasted effort now. When I purchased?KF700, it seemed like going?digital powerdrive on saw and shaper together was an overall better deal versus a la carte options anyhow. My standalone F700z has manual crank angle and I go to the KF700 when tilt is needed first because the digital setup is just easier/better unless I'm adjusting angles to "as-built" by eye.

I have just blade elevation on K975 and I do not like not having a precise control or a DRO. I like powerdrive on my J/P where I can make a quick change fast and then advance by .01mm or 0.005mil.

If the budget is limited IMHO, most bang for the buck is getting powerdrive for the shaper elevation. I have read here that it loses calibration on Profil (at least the older models) but not sure if that is true for KF700. I would certainly make sure of that before taking that step.

Any advice from you pros and afficianados on this? Use is as a "hobbyist" rather than a professional shop. Thanks!?
