I always turn mine off. I believer the Felder Tech told me to do this for some reason, The only issue is when I forget to turn it on when planing and I stand there with a dumb founded look as what is wrong.

How many of you turn the feed switch off when not planing/thicknessing on your J/P combo machine?
This should be a no brainer but I have always left the feed switch in the on position, not thinking much about it. Well at least on dual51 it means that feed rollers are running during jointing, which is just a waste. Frankly, I thought the machine is smart enough to not run the feed motor unless in planing mode.
