I did much the same as Bird Cupps.? I live in Houston where winters are very mild and there is no need real freezing weather.? So my shop is on cinder blocks that are sunk about about 18" sub grade, and stacked so that the building is slightly elevated off the ground. The blocks are spaced pretty close together as I have a combination machine that weighs about 1,500 lbs, so I wanted to provide plenty of support.? Two layers of 3/4" ply subfloor, and then solid 3/4" hardwoods on top of the subfloor.? It's been almost a year since the machine went in and so far everything is staying square. And I LOVE having the wood floor.
