I have found any pitchy/resinous wood tends to catch and grab¡ I can run any hardwood, walnut, cherry, maple, etc. and rarely have an issue. Try sending a couple 2x4¡¯s thru and it¡¯ll start screeching and grabbing almost immediately. How heavy are your passes, less depth of cut tends to feed smoother in my experience, but then in softwoods you run the risk of seeing indentations from the serrated roller.
You might try making a bed cover out of melamine, put a cleat sticking down on both ends so it¡¯s captive on the bed and then run your material on top of that. The melamine is pretty slippery.
