I'd rather cut to a scribed line? A laser has always seemed a
little fuzzy? to me.

NO, A 9V battery
would work. (I have a power supply collection and one of
them was 10V. I wired a barrel DC connection to the end of
the laser which matched the connector on the power supply.
I have a switch-controlled receptacle on the ceiling over
the saw, so no wires are hanging down. The laser comes on
with the overhead light.)

hardware. did it come with any or you made your own?
They sell some
options, but I attached some extrusion to the ceiling and
used fittings to hold the 8mm, 2" long laser...
