Jason..I did quite a few things differently on the 2nd chair.? the first chair with the thinner arms, leans back more.? I purposely moved the upper legs forward more so the chair was more upright.? I extended both the back leg and upper leg by another inch.??
I made the seat just a tad wider
I used ebony for all the accents (that stuff is EXPENSIVE!!)
As for the arms, I actually curved them more than usual.. it's just really hard to see in the pictures with all the noise in the background
There are hardlines everywhere the same as a Maloof chair.
I'll add more pictures tonight when I get back with the chairs in the same angle..

Really nice work! Can you post the two of them together from the same angle? Besides the difference of the accent woods, the main change I see is in the arms. I personally find them to be a little flat looking in comparison on the?new version. Could just be the camera angle. Are the back splats sawn from solid, not bent lamination?
I have never built a Maloof style anything. The hand shaping seems so daunting! I should do it someday.
