thank you so much for your help! ?I wish I had joined this group years ago. ?I find this task daunting enough in itself, and when I am second guessing myself it becomes even more challenging. ?To get such clear and quick responses really brings a smile to my face. ? ?I would have been pushing and pulling all day on the wrong areas. ?At least now when I'm sweating and swearing it will because of my own shortcomings.

You will not have enough positioning latitude to alter the toe-out using locknut #7. ? Loosen the nut marked #3 on the bottom side of the chassis (the lower one) at all positions except one at either end of the carriage extrusion. ? Slider toe-out should be established before you tackle the height adjustments - that¡¯s why it¡¯s covered first in the Survival Guide. ?So after you adjust toe-out, you will need to check and adjust height. ? A rubber mallet on the side of the lower carriage (not the sliding extrusion element) may or may not give you the necessary leverage to align toe-out. ? What I do is remove the end cap on the lower carriage, and insert a 2x3 into the largest cavity of the lower carriage and pull or push on the end of the 2x3 to get the slider to move laterally for toe-out adjustment. ? This photo shows where to insert some kind of lever like a 2x3 six feet long (or a piece of pipe, etc) to get some leverage. ? Do NOT try to bang or shove the sliding table extrusion itself for this adjustment since that puts all the twisting force on a relatively small bearing cage - put the force on the lower carriage.

I'm feeling a bit dim as there have been numerous postings about the subject here and I have read through David Best's bible and watched his great flickr videos on the subject as well, but somehow I still have a bit of confusion on the process of achieving the slider toe out....
- Do I achieve slider toe out by loosening all of the # 7 lock nuts and tapping on the end of the chassis with a rubber mallet???I started playing with this yesterday, but wasn't able to get any significant movement on the dial indicator. ?
- Do I need to exert more force than a mallet to get movement? Two other comments I saw mentioned on this forum said they used their hip and another sounded like they used a pry bar.?
- Before I screw something up, am I even on the right track with locknut #7 being the means of adjusting the toe out? ?
