I had an accurate technology scale for almost 20 years always worked, used it on slider xcut and rip and at one point on a cabinet saw. I have had to flip the rip several times due to extra long xcut with solids. I didn¡¯t even bother to watch the videos or check the links but i know what they are doing, there is nothing new or novel about attaching a dro to a rip fence, regardless of how easy it is to remove to flip and even if I didn¡¯t ever want to flip the rip its to clunky for me to save $200-$250 for a less elegant solution like a mag strip dro but thats me

The saw owner in that link copied my set up and I found it searching the internet some years ago. The Wixey works well and as a magnet is the only attachment to the rip fence head absolute precision in fitting is not necessary because the attachment is self adjusting but that will not change the relative relationship of fence to reading head. One reason it really shines is if you have a fine adjustment on the rip fence, get it close and wind the head to obtain the desired measurment, no bumping etc to get that last little bit.?
The Wixey is a fairly dumb DRO in that it can only be calibrated at Zero unlike its most common competitor Proscale which can be calibrated to a random cut length. Here is a link to a proscale fitted to a normal cabinet saw
?and while I have never used one it looks to be a better thing than the Wixey as it seems to be more flexibe in calibration and more robust in use though I doubt if it is more accurate unless the resolution is better. A link to fitting a Wixey?

I would not be without a DRO of whatever brand on the rip fence because I am constantly using as a measuring bump stop and it is a rare day it gets used to rip anything and it is repeatable within the resolution of the instrument which on the Wixey is about 5 thousandths of an inch.
