Re: Euro Guard on K700 #sawsetup

When I looked at upgrading from my K975, I explored the overhead guard swing-away capabilities of the Kappa 400 as well as the K700. ?This was in 2015, so things could have changed on the 700-series. ? But at that time, the 700-series machines had a swing-away capability that rotated at the support column, bringing the saw guard toward the In-feed side of the machine. ?The Kappa 400 with its overhead display unit blocking that swing direction has the saw guard swing toward the outfeed side of the machine. ?Of course the locking/release latch is on the mounting post (across the room), but I solved that by adding a release cable brought over to the saw guard housing. ?I use it all the time to get the guard out of the way. ? ?

?Mac: I recently put in another thread related to this issue, seeking a way to not have the verticle support stem for the Felder Overarm Guard "in the way" at the right side of the machine, with the goal of being able to cut sheets of plywood in half using the crosscut fence and slider. I don't have a machine yet, but am planning my purchase for a KF 700. My thinking is that if the pivot point were in the same place that Felder has it now, it would swing out of the way counterclockwise. Learning that it is impractical (and inadvantageous) to remove the guard for such cuts, I started thinking of ceiling mount options. Looking around for examples, or products, I didn't find much that looked suitable. So, I remembered this thread in which you said you had modified the Felder Guard to suit your needs. Here is my question:

Do you think it would be feasible and make sense to mount the felder overarm guard from the ceiling from the same post (added on to, of course) that normally attaches to the right side of the table? Instead of attaching to the machine at this position, the attachment square tube would be flipped and go up toward the ceiling attachment.
