I would plane half that on my Buss but the tools your talking about there is way to much distance from rollers to pressure bars and chip breakers.?
Lunch box planers work good for that sort of thickness or like John said wide belt.

Glen I gave up trying that on a planer a lot of years ago, better to bandsaw strips oversize then run them through the wide belt. I do it this way for my solid wood edgebanding. That is unless you like hearing wood explode and turning it into tooth picks.?
