Re: Really clean 'dega for sale

I don't like to critique other personal owner's cars because the first thing I learned is that no one claims to be a? Talladega expert, shy of Rick Och's,? maybe, and many of us are building cars to restoration standards which is a challenge since the NOS parts supply is running dry.
?
However, since Dave is asking for educational information per the value / asking price of the car AND this is a dealer selling a "Rotissery? Restoration" , my opinion is that it is a very pretty car that could be picked apart if the intent was to restore it to concourse standards.? ?
?
The thing I am most impressed with that is very $$$$ and a pia to address with the engine in the car is the hi-tech smog system and heat shield/riser they installed, or didn't.? Vacuum advance is wrong and pinch weld is body color instead of black out.?
?
I wish that near concourse restorations were bringing that kind of money and with the judging efforts of the club I hope we will exceed that soon.? However I have seen more "correct" cars struggling to bring $58k, including one owned by Rick Hendrick 2 years ago.
?
I may be reading too much into the listing but I personally feel that the dealer selling this car needs to get off his lazy a$$pen and do his research so the car is offered to the level of restoration it is rather than trying to cash in on the Talladega pedigree itself.

I would have to agree with each of your points; plus, the air cleaner has an incorrect sticker and it is the wrong battery and cable ends.

Overall, very minor issues.? I can't see if the shocks are correct; but, the attention to detail on this car is impressive.

I believe that the buyer will be getting a deal, as it would cost much more than this to bring a car to this level.

It also is still at least half the market price of its MOPAR competition.

That being said, I don't have the necessary pocket change to buy this one, nor would I take this little for mine that I had at the nationals.

1) The tires/wheels are wrong.? They should be 14" sport rims with
argent paint and a plain cap.

2) The underside should be painted with red primer, not black.

3) I'm pretty sure that the nose of the differential should also be
red primer, but I could be wrong on that.

4) I'm pretty sure that the trunk mat should be speckled, not
plaid.? Did Ford's get plaid mats?? I thought that was Mercury
only.? There should not be a cover on the spare.

5) Did Ford's ever get a hood blanket?

6) (Very minor nit.)? The flat black paint does not look flat
enough.? That could be the lighting.? At least they attempted to make
it flat.? I've seen too many Dega's with glossy hoods.? I accept that
it is extremely difficult to get a truly flat paint these days.

Note: The head rests are the correct molded ones, which many Dega
restorations get wrong.? They are very nice and I am jealous of
them.? (If anyone has nice molded 1969 head rests that they need to
get rid of, please contact me.)

Overall, it is a very nice looking car.

I suspect that while the asking price is probably where the market
should be, I don't think the market is there yet.
