Re: francine recovery

Hey Lloyd,
Lol,
I don't think there's enough liquor even in this town for that. I'd need a looong pole, longer than the one I have as it was the connection to the transformer on the top of the telephone pole. It even gave Entergy a problem.
And Jay, I think we did pass through Johnson City going to the Nats in York. It was a nice place. Thanks for the recommendation.
Greg

Greg,? I am a little perplexed.? For as well as you are always prepared for Mardi Gras and the Fairlane Nationals, I figured you would know a guy that knows a guy that has a stock pile of the fuses for the transformer on your block.? All you would need to do is spend a few hours at the local pub buying enough adult beverages for a potential "volunteer" to install it and your AC is back to work and ice cream is safe in less than a day!??

Glad to hear you toughed out another round with Muther Nature!? ?Take care.

Hopefully fourth time is the charm...
First off, my kampenout1@... email through my mail app has been giving me trouble logging in so until I get that straightened out, I'm switching to my "business" account, gregkampen@..., now, I have been approved to join the group (I think) I can once again talk to y'all (all of you), my cherished friends, and Linc ?
This is my update I tried to post earlier...

Hey everybody. I'm fine. Tired of these damn hurricanes. I lost power on Tuesday (before the storm) for about an hour and a half, why? I don't know, but Entergy got us back up. Then Wednesday during the storm we had power the whole time until it was just about over which I was very grateful but at 9:15 pm, bam! That was it. Thursday I went to work, but they were out too, so I went to my younger son's house bc his and his fiance cars got water. I checked them for water in the oil and transmissions but luckily they seemed fine. He has a highlander and she has a Chrysler 200. She got water in her interior. Good thing their house is raised, or they would have had 18" inside.?
? It's pretty miserable without power, especially with this damn humidity. And when the sun goes down, that's it. Candles, flashlights, and dead quiet except for the next door neighbor's generator roaring. We had ordered one way before hurricane ida three years ago, but it got "lost" at the fed ex distribution center and got a refund from home depot. I know, I know I need to order another one, and get an a/c window unit.
? I went back to work yesterday, (Friday) and everything was back to normal THERE, and everyplace else which I was very grateful for, (which is usually not the case especially after katrina) except at my house and a very few of my neighbors. We kept on calling Entergy about the outage, and the automated p.o.s. kept telling me, "we're not experiencing any outages in your area". I finally was able to talk to a human and told her we're out, and to put us on the list.
? After I got home Friday, Laura looked wrung out as she was home all day. We walked the dog before it got dark, and Laura said we needed more ice for the refrigerators or "ice box" as they became. Took "Bear" with us instead of leaving him alone in the dark hot house and got two bags and put them in the ice chest we brought with us. Then Laura said, "I haven't had a cup of coffee in two days." So I said, "Let's go". So we went to the Cafe du Monde out by us, and drank them in the car soaking up the cool wonderful A/C in the Linc, and got Bear a sip of water. While we were in the car, I got a call from the neighbor saying, "Entergy's outside working!" So after our coffee, we took Bear to PetSmart before they closed to soak up a little more a/c and light before we went home. When we got home the trucks were in front of my house with the spot lights shining on the pole in front of my house. All the neighbors were out. We put Bear inside and went out to see them hook up a new fuse to the transformer and Bam! The light came back on!!! We and the neighbors applauded and thanked the crew, saying, "God Bless You" and our power was restored. And get this...It was EXACTLY 48 hours later. To the minute! I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO RESET MY OLD CLOCKS! Seemed a lot longer though.
Anyway, I hope I didn't bore you too much with the ordeal. It's a p.i.t.a. and I'm ready to move. I'm thinking about somewhere around the Smokeys, any thoughts?
Speaking of thoughts, thank you all for your concern. I couldn't charge my phone, so I had to "ration" my usage.
? Thanks guys, love all y'all.. See you next year.
Greg in recovering N.O.
