Re: Quarter window rubber seal needed

Just as a FYI. The available weather strip/seal for rear of door glass to quarter window can be adjusted/modified to fit/work on the convertible cars. The bottom angled securing tab needs a slight rebend and I can't remember IF the securing screw hole needs to be redrilled in a slightly different location for it to then allow the securing screw to screw in or not.

That said. On my convertible I was able to remove/unscrew the door end seal/weather strip to gain access to the securing screw for the vertical door glass to quarter window weather strip/seal.

Lastly it would be a very good idea to use both tape and a magnitized screwdriver to prevent dropping the securing screw down into the door.

Thank you, Chris and Marti, for the information.? I had not looked into the details of removal and installation yet.? I was thinking it was held in place with weather strip adhesive.? Good to know it slides into place in a channel and is held there with a screw.? That should be easier to work with than adhesive.

I don't know where I got the idea that 68 and 68 were different.? I did see online that it attaches to the front quarter glass.? So, if the 68 was different it would not make any difference anyway.? I am glad you both confirmed they are the same.

I will be calling Monday to place an order.

You don¡¯t have to remove the glass. Just unscrew the door seal which exposes the bottom of the vertical piece?

It is the same part for 68 and 69. In both cases, it is just the
rubber and there is left and right. It slots into a metal channel on
the back edge of the front window. You do NOT remove the channel.

You need to slide your old rubber out before you can put in the new
stuff. There is a screw holding the bottom of the rubber. The rubber
then slides down out of the channel (into the door).

I don't know whether or not you need to remove the front door glass
to get at everything. Someone else can chime in on that.
