Don and I will be at HooDoo Brewery tonight at 5 PM. It’s a beautiful day.

Carol Lokken is leading a hike down to The Golden Eagle in Ester on Sunday, July 21st Meet in the parking lot of the Golden Eagle at 1 pm to coordinate the car shuttle. It’s an easy 2 hour hike. We hike down to the Golden Eagle, we can cook a burger, (The Eagle sells the fixings for the burger and provides the grill, you cook your own) have a drink and listen to some local music. Or you’re welcome to depart after the hike. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Karen C is leading this week's social hike. We will meet by the smaller ski hut at 6:30 pm. Bring bug spray and water. We will walk the trails for about 2 hours. Kid and Dog friendly. There will be other users on the trails so bring a leash for your fuzzy buddies (and kids if necessary ;-) ) Birch Hill Recreation Area,101 Wilderness Dr, Fairbanks, AK 99712

Sorry for the late notice…blame the weather. We are going to look for two borough trail signs…one in Two Rivers and the other on the Mike Kelly trail. We will meet at the Sourdough gas station on the corner of Farmer’s Loop and Steese Hwy at 1:30 pm today. Please RSVP so we will try not to leave without you. Bring rain gear.

According to my source in North Pole, the weather doesn’t look very pleasant for this afternoon. So, we will CX this potluck and reschedule to a more sunny and dry day, hopefully next weekend. Perhaps next time I will try to rent a pavilion so we can enjoy the day regardless of the weather. However, I am up for a hike today if anyone is interested.

We will hopefully be in the same area we were last year, along the lake on the left side where the boat launch and rental booth are. It’s potluck, at 1 pm. Hopefully there will be some music, so bring an instrument if you want to play. There is lots to do…people can kayak, bike, rollerblade, swim, etc. See you then.

We meet at the intersection of Ester Dome Rd and Henderson Rd at 6:30 pm. Bring bug dope, rain gear (current forecast says we may not need it, but we're in Alaska!) Water for you and your fuzzy buddy, and if you have a pup along bring a leash in case it's needed. Carol will tell us which of the trails up there we're hiking when we get there!

If NOT raining, we will be at HooDoo Brewery tomorrow (Friday) evening by 5:30 pm. See you then…

Some of us are going to meet at 2 pm tomorrow (Sunday) at Graehl Landing to arrange a car shuttle prior to the paddle. We will begin the paddle at Graehl Landing and put out at The Boatel, a good place to sit on their deck and have a drink. Plan about 1.5 hours. If you need a kayak, let me know and I can ask around. Tuesday June 25th at 6PM Karen Chancler, long time hiking club leader, will be leading the 4th week Tuesday hike. The hike will be approximately 2 hours. This coming Tuesday hike will be at the top of Summit at the end of Mia. We will start at 6 pm ,going on Secret trail to ski boot hill rd , then going back to our start via after hours trail. Dogs & kids are welcome. Expect approximately a 2 hour walk. Bring water & insect repellent & maybe rain gear. Bug spray, rain gear and water are recommended. Kid and pet friendly. From Farmer's loop road, turn up the hill at Summit Drive, opposite the Musher's Hall, Follow Summit to Cranberry Ridge Drive until it meets Noel Dr and turn left, Follow Noel until it makes a sharp right turn and becomes Mia Street. You're there! Please don't block any driveways when you park. For anyone who wants to carpool or follow me up, I'll be parked in the Musher's Hall parking lot at 530pm, John Risser

I am leading a hike on Sunday, June 9, from Ester Dome down to the Golden Eagle Saloon in Ester. We will meet in the parking lot of the Golden Eagle at 1 pm to arrange a car shuttle to the trailhead. It’s a pretty easy hike, mostly downhill, about 2 hours. Bring bug spray and water. At the Golden Eagle, we can grill some burgers, have a drink and enjoy some music. See you Sunday. Carol

Sorry folks, I'm cancelling tonight's hike. We've had a pretty good thunder and rain squall pass through already and the weather RADAR shows another big one headed right for the bluff by around 7PM, right when we'd be the most exposed up there. John

Want to get moving? The Fairbanks Running Club has a run/walk every Thursday evening at HooDoo at 6 pm. We’ll be there in case anyone wants to join us. Carol

Let’s get together before the hiking begins. We will meet at the Island View Pavilion at Chena Lakes in North Pole on Saturday, June 1 at 4 pm. It will be a potluck. Bring bikes, kayaks and canoes, volleyballs, fishing poles, swimsuits and let the fun begin! There might even be some music. You might want to bring chairs. We have the pavilion reserved until 8 pm. TIME CHANGE: This Tuesday (May 21) will start at 6 pm. We will meet in the parking lot of West Valley High School near the running track. People can either walk the track or I will lead a hike around the University. See you at 6 pm. Carol
