Re: Sorry for the emails!

No, that's by design, to foster conversations. That is actually the default for new groups, and I didn't think to mention it when we moved to the new group since it's the default. So thanks for pointing it out!

Some groups, such as Fairbanks Paddlers, have gone back and forth over the years about which one is best, reply all or reply sender. Neither option is perfect.

You can easily change who an email goes to with each reply. But one does need to think of it!

This sounds like an awesome trip. I would love to go, but I cannot commit right now. I am going to try again at the John Muir Trail. This past summer I finished a short stretch, and next summer I want to do about a 130 mile stretch - IF and only if, the snowpack in the Sierra isn't as bad as it was this year. All very situational. If I don't do the Sierra, I'll be looking for other longer hikes, in Alaska or Canada probably.?

I'd love to do the Chilkoot again. We did it last year and it was really a fantastic experience. I encourage anyone who hasn't done it to seriously consider it. You all will have a great time.

Chilkoot Trail.

Hi All,?
The maximum number allowed in a group for the Chilkoot Trail is 12 and we have reached that number.? If I haven¡¯t contacted you, I have put you on the waitlist.? There is always the possibility as July comes closer that people who planned to go have to drop out and someone on the waitlist will have an opportunity to join the hike.? So those who are going and those who are waitlisted are invited to attend Sunday¡¯s meeting 5-7 pm.? I would also ask that those who are going on the hike to please pay their $175 at the meeting.? I would like to make the reservations as soon as possible to ensure we get the dates and campgrounds.? If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.? Carol.

Please Consider Joining the Citizens Advisory Board of Alaska State Parks!

Hi folks,

I have the pleasure of serving on the?Citizens Advisory Board of the northern region of Alaska State Parks, along with several other great folks who care about our parks. And I'd like to invite you to join us. It would be great to have 2 or 3 more non-motorized users of the parks to represent our interests.

The CAB is essentially an advisory board to the superintendent of the northern region of the parks, Brooks Ludwig. He is great?to work with: he bounces ideas off of us and we bring ideas and concerns to him. And things happen.

Workload is fairly minimal. Monthly meetings of about two hours max, usually on the second Wednesday of the month, September or October to May, at 5PM (meeting dates and times can change based on everyone's schedules, so don't be deterred if that time doesn't work). We don't meet during the summer. Meetings are usually at DNR near Fred Meyer West.

The last meeting of the season in May is a day-long field trip, something I find to be the highlight of the year. We go out as a group to tour one or more parks, getting a behind-the-scenes look at operations and often have some incredible experiences. And once a year we meet with legislators for an hour or two to discuss parks issues with them.

Please consider joining the CAB! I'll be happy to answer any questions you have, and you're welcome to visit our next meeting to see what the CAB is all about. No obligation!

Thanks,
Don
