Great, Ken! Just make sure that you comment to the NPS so they know your support.

The project is in the early stages of development, and the document on the project page I linked to above has maps and some conceptual ideas for the project. The area goes from bridge to bridge, where the Parks Highway is within the park.

This could be an interesting development, certainly for hikers, but maybe also for paddlers and river access? It would be pretty cool to do an easy hike to the confluence with the Yanert. Or should the park leave the area alone?

Anyway, chime in with?your thoughts and comments if you are so inclined. Comments are due by 11/24, and there is an informational meeting on 11/10.

5th Wednesday fun hike: Equinox out and back trail!

开云体育

Wednesday, 29th of September. 6:00PM~8:00PM ish.
?
?
Last "official" fun hike of the season. PLEASE NOTE: We are starting at 6PM instead of 7pm. Sun will be setting around 7:25PM this night.
Where: From Fairbanks take Sheep Creek road to Ester Dome Road and drive up ester dome road all the way to the top. Here the road ends in a T intersection, turn left and go another 200 yards or so to the first group of small buildings and park there.
We will hike out part of the Equinox Marathon trail out and back along ridge lines with awesome views of the surrounding mountains and of the City down below.
Weather will be freezing or slightly colder and is forecast to be reasonably clear so dress in layers and bring extras.
If the weather cooperates, it's possible to see Denali from here.

4th Wednesday Fun Hike - last one of the season!

开云体育

?
September 22nd 2021 7~9 PM
?

Where: Meet at the intersection of Ester Dome Road and Henderson Rd, Fairbanks AK. From Sheep Creek Rd. Take Ester Dome Road and go up about 3 miles to the intersection. You can't miss it!
Description: Easy, fun, social, dog and kid friendly hike. Trails are many, and wind through forested areas and across ridges with nice views, we'll take different paths on different nights but meet here each time to get things started. Bring along water, rain gear, and an extra layer, your dog and a smile! Carol Lokken will lead.
Time to think about adding a headlamp or flashlight to your kit.

3rd Wednesday Fun hike: Moose Creek Bluff.

开云体育

When: Wednesday, 21 July, ‘21??? 7PM~9PM
?
Where: DO NOT USE FACEBOOK OR GOOGLE TO TRY TO FIND THIS. They will take you to a lodge in beautiful downtown Moose Creek.
From Fairbanks head south on the Richardson, through North Pole and over the flood control bridge. Just after crossing the railroad tracks look for a turn off to the left. The bluff is a large cliff with graffiti all over it. Meet at the parking area at the base of the bluff. If coming from Eielson or Salcha it will be on the right just after you pass Eielson Farm Rd.
?
This moderate hike is about 2 hours and goes through forested areas over the bluff with some great views. Dog and kid friendly. There shouldn't be any bugs, Parts of the trail can be muddy so plan foot wear accordingly. It WILL be getting dark by the time we get back to the parking lot so a head lamp might be a good idea.? This will be the last bluff hike of the summer/fall season, next time we do this will likely be on snowshoes on a weekend!
