Re: FA-VA6

I've tried to preorder the FA VA6A ( without L ion Battery) but can't see England , UK or Great Britain in the destination list on the FunkAmateur site.? Please can this be rectified or if there is to be a UK reseller, please let know.
?
Thanks and 73, Lawrence G4GZG

FA-VA6

Hi everyone
?
I am so glad the FA-VA5 story continues with the VA6. Clearly, this is a confirmation of the product's quality and it's usefulness. So, my pre-order is in for the VA6. The VA5 will remain as my /p operation instrument.

I have been so bold as to rename the group to FA-VA5/6-users today. Seemed logical to me.?
?
Any objections? Let me have them.?

Re: FA-VA6 as a successor to FA-VA5

Note that there is a banner now that says that today was a German bank holiday and Christian will be off for the rest of the week.
So if you sent questions, don't be surprised if you don't get a response this week, have patience.

I expect Christian to be overwhelmed when he gets back next week (the reason he is only reachable by phone some hours of the day is to have time to "get work done").

Be patient. I have found Christian's customer service among the best of the world. But it is one person, and he deserves vacation too.

Re: FA-VA6 as a successor to FA-VA5

I would love to order one, please add an English version or ordering help guide. There are many of us in the international group that would wish to order I suspect.

Re: Successor to FA-VA5: FA-VA6

Well, if only I'd known it was there! Looks great, I was looking at an upgrade to one of the other VNA's, but maybe I'll go this route instead. Thanks for letting us know about it!?

Good to see the FA-VA5 isn't ending. And I think the keyboard and the higher frequency range is an improvement.

Bit surprised that this group has been quiet on this so far.

PS: Since there are many international users on this forum, perhaps an elaboration on the correct LiIon battery to use would help?

Well assuming that I ticked all the right boxes I have my order placed, looking forward to continuing to support this awesome product.

Bad Pushbuttons?

I just tried using my FA-VA5 after a long period leaving it idle. It seems the push buttons aren't operating correctly and will have to be changed. Are replacements available?

TNX.

Re: FA-VA6 as a successor to FA-VA5

Wes,
just reading for international customers they offer Paypal. I think they will send you an e-mail within 2 days to pay via Paypal. However, today is a day after a bank holiday. So it will become next week...

Re: FA-VA6 as a successor to FA-VA5

Excellent.? I have too many analyzers already (FA-VA5, DG8SAQ, AA-55 Zoom) but I think I would buy a VA6 if the keyboard action is friendlier than the VA5, that I prefer for field work.? I have to relearn it at every (infrequent use).? Sunlight readability is also important.

FA-VA6 as a successor to FA-VA5

Edited

Hello everyone,
?
things are progressing fast! I am happy to announce that there will be a successor to the FA-VA5, the FA-VA6. ?There is a detailed article about the FA-VA6 in the German magazine Funkamateur 05/2025 (and a second part will follow 06/2025).
?
Let me give you a quick summary on changes and new features. The FA-VA6 is a complete hardware and software redesign, keeping FA-VA5 good things and introducing exciting new things:
?
- Sunlight readable (1000 nits) 320 x 240 IPS TFT display
- Professional silicon rubber keypad 4 x 4
- Soft power on / off (10 years standby)
- STM32 ultra low power processor STM32U575, 32 MBit EEPROM
- 16-bit parallel display bus for up to 120 Hz frame rate
- 12 hours continuous measurement with full display brightness
- Extensive protection and charge control for 18650 industry batterie (Panasonic NCR18650BD)
- USB-C and keeping BNC connector
- 1 GHz frequency range, keeping FA-VA5 signal chain with significant improvements
- S11 dynamic range (noise) 10 kHz - 200 MHz: > 82 dB, 200 MHz - 600 MHz: 69 dB (11 dB improvement), 600 MHz - 1 GHz 57 dB
- Same form factor and aluminum enclosure as FA-VA 5
- Keeping Buzzer, TCXO, DG8SAQ PC software usage etc.
- Very powerful firmware including time domain measurements (TDR) and all modes from FA-VA5, cable applications
?
It will be available as a 99 % ready kit:
- 99 % fully assembled and tested PCB
- Aluminum enclosure
- 18650 battery for domestic delivery (we are still checking international delivery for 18650, not easy...)
- Factory calibration, measurement protocol
- High quality storage case
- High quality USB cable
- Simple do-it-yourself SOL BNC kit
- Solder the battery holder and some screws - that¡¯s all!
?
Currently we are in the process of finalizing the firmware and testing the final PCB. Availability is planned for mid of July. Preorder is possible at
www.box73.de (Funkamateur shop).
?
Some more information will be available on my website and here in the forum after FA-VA6 availability. But now, we are busy with keeping the dates¡?
?
I really would like to thank everyone for previous discussions and I hope that you will love the FA-VA6!
?
Regards
Michael DG5MK
