Play in my Left Side Flange Shaft

I pulled my driver's side CV axle and replaced the inner CV boot. I also pulled the Flange Shaft out and replaced the oil seal because I have been getting a fair amount of oil leakage from it. This EV has 354k miles on it and the trans is original as far as I know. I bought it with 215k on it and no records, just good regular maintenance.
?
When I reinstalled the axle, I noticed that the flange had quite a bit of lateral play when I was torquing the bolts. I think I've found one reason for the leak. The old seal was pretty hard and the new one is nice and pliable.?
?
My question is what is the job here?? Total trans rebuild?? It's probably due. How long can I drive it?
?
Thanks,
Kent

Sorry, this is a 2003 EV MV with the 01P auto trans.

Did you notice any play before removal?? What did you have to do to remove the output flange?

I didn't notice any before I pulled it out. I wish I had checked for that. I just hit the bolts with my impact to get them off, so I wasn't paying that much attention. It has a spring clip on it like the axle going into the outboard CV joint. Bentley shows using a slide hammer but I just used two cv bolts screwed through to push off of the differential housing. Very little effort. You're supposed to replace the circlip, which I did not, but I don't think that has anything to do with the play.
