Michelin Agilis 51 Tires

Sheldon H. Winick

Eckhard,

>> The problem I have is getting
>> them from SC to NC.

We recently put a set of Michelin Agilis 51 tires on our '97EVC. The local
Michelin dealer we went to simply called the warehouse in SC and ordered
them. It only took 3 working days for them to arrive here in Asheville, NC.
I think its all a matter of whether or not the dealers you've talked to
really want your business, or just consider having to special order a single
set of tires too much of a nuisance to be bothered with.

Just my opinion.

How are the Agilis 51 tires? Are they quiet? What size did you get?
This tire was recommended to me by Michelin today but I currently have
the MXL's which are very quiet. Thanks!

The Agilis 51s are always highly regarded on this list. We were pleasantly
surprised when our new 99 EVC came with them, and yes, they are smooth and
quiet.

I just bought Agilis 51 - 205/65/R15C for my 97 EVC.
I had enough of the noise of my Goddyear Cargo
The Michelin are great smooth and quiet.
BTW,
Has anyone test with different tire pressure ?
Winnebahgo recommendation is 50 PSI front and rear.
I find it very hard.

Agilis 51 is quiet and comes in only one size. As I recall from the info
available on the Michelin website about a year ago, other Agilis sizes were
known by a different number but none of them were not available in the U.S.

Oops. This should have read "...other Agilis sizes were known by a
different number but none of them were available in the U.S."

What did you pay per tire, if I might ask? I called a few places and
VW dealer wants $147 U.S. per tire, no mounting etc. Sears says $125
but will take 7-10 days.

thanks,

I've been shopping for tires too. I checked out the Agilis tire at
the local Costco tire shop. They can get them (2-3 days max) and
quoted me $116.00 each including mounting and balancing.

myself. They ride great! I also pull a 3 bike trailer with 1 bike.
They are the best tire I've seen for the '93. Rick.- In
