I got the impression that being on legacy payment system we/Rick is not paying by member.? And I can imagine that "pruning" would be a pretty big job to check every member against a list that must be built.? ?

If we are ever moved to the "per member" payment scheme then perhaps the easy way would be to put out a repeat notice over a couple of weeks and then cleanse everybody, letting those still active rejoin as desired.?

Still here, checking daily.

Rick,

I have been on this list for a long time, and I have two eurovans, one running and one not, but I don't check the emails on a daily basis. It completely escaped me that you apparently asked for donations at some point? Since I routinely delete my yahoo emails I don't have any of the older ones. What do you need from list members to contribute to maintaining the forum? I would like to help keep it going since I'm sure it's a good resource for those who check it frequently.

Thanks very much,
Eric David

first of all, I want to say thanks for the many folks who chipped into sponsoring the list this year.
we're on the legacy rate plan, and given our membership numbers, whether they're active or not, we'd pay about 20X our current rate at the latest pricing...

regarding members: we have 4619 "active" members - but 3680 of them get no emails - web only. So it's hard to say how many of them actually hit the pages.

regarding files and photos: it was not because our subscription lapsed, it was something I forgot about - I turned it off.?
(This is because at the time I was helping admin a non-profit site that was getting polluted by spam-link files.)
I've turned them back on. if we start getting polluted I'll have to turn them off again.
please limit the resolution of the photos you upload. We don't need print-resolution copies. I'll set a limit on the image size to some reasonable resolution.

speaking of images, I guess some don't like the default "elephants" image I picked a long time ago. Given VW's propensity to threaten people using their logo and branding at the time, combined with having a vehicle that's a bit of an elephant at times... it seemed a reasonable choice. And not using the web interface very much, it just falls off may radar. For the moment, I've substituted a photo an EV keychain I 3d-printed a few years ago while testing a multi-material printer.
I'll get around to updating it again though. I'll dig through the files and see what I can find.?

that's all for now. thanks again. good night and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Still here… I read posts every day!

I see this morning that Files and Wiki are now working, but photos and databases still aren't.

Thanks everyone for all the years of info

Rick, could you respond to the suggestion that you compile a list of everyone (thousands?) who chimes in and then check that list against the total subscribers in order to "prune"?? ?
To me it seems like a daunting task and not worthwhile at this point even if you do have that much time.
But people have started to treat the suggestion as if it's being applied and apparently will be spamming the list for some time with "reporting in" posts.? ?

It's starting to get messy and derail the group.

cheers

Me and our ’95 EVC are also still here, always watching to see what other technical gremlins have been solved by the community in case I get hit next :-)

i am interested in continuing to be a part of this group. I've had my 1997 eurovan for a year now, and am very happy with it.

Big C hyar as well — I chime in from time to time with tech info and very much enjoy this group.

Am a former driver of two 87 Vanagons (auto) and one 2003 Eurovan GL (stick), all three gold!

Would like more details about costs and what's necessary for us to help mods. :-)?

love this group!??

This is a very useful group!? I still use it regularly!? I'm currently on a trip with my 95 Eurovan visiting Zion and Bryce in Utah...

Great group. The collective tribal knowledge is extremely valuable.?
Thank you!

Hi, I have had my 1997 Eurovan camper for 23 years and it has 92,000 miles. I retired 3 months ago and finally can go on long trips verses 3 days get aways. Thank you all for the great info. Vicky?
