I check for the first time since i bought it last summer, the mileage
of my 96 ev camper and his 5 cylinder anémic motor.
The vehicle and the motor are in great shape and very well maintenance
Running with regular gas 97 octane, I made 17 miles per canadian gallon
which is 14.3 miles per us gallon, What is yours?? dont forget to
mention the type of gallon us or canadian and the motor you have V6 12
or 24 valves, That would be interested to see if there is significant
difference depending of motorisation.

87 octane US Gallons
My average in rural driving is 22.7...my worst is 20.7(all city driving).best ever was on rather flat all highway speeds of 75-80 mph with heavy load (7 passengers) no wind 23.6 plain ole ev so lighter than the camper

That is poor mileage for a '95 on the highway. If it is for "around town"
with A/C operating, it may be par.

My 2001 Weekender experience is around 18 city, 20 highway at speed limit.

I don't check it all the time but with regular gas (87 octane , US gallons)
I get between 18 and 20 on the hiway and about 14 - 16 around where we live
( mountain driving in the Sierra foothills). I have an 95 EVC with the I5
and automatic.

I get about 18 on average. I check it every fill up (for 180,000+
miles!) And have seen 18 +/- 5 consistently depending on driving
conditions and tune-up conditions. That is 87 octane ( found it
doesn't make much difference to use higher octane in this engine), US
gal, I5 motor, manual transmission, MV body.

Actually, I have seen a slight downward trend in the average (maybe
1-2 mpg over past 10 years). I don't know if that is because I tend to
drive faster, drive more city miles, car is less efficient (eg small
vac leak somewhere), the effects of ethanol prevalence in fuel supply,
or some combination of the above.

My 95 EVC 5-spd is used mostly for long trips, with a light foot at 55-60 mph. Premium fuel.
Mileage varies from 19-25 mpg dependent on wind direction, terrain, and quality of
gasoline.

1 gal(CAN) = 1.20 gal(US), meaning if you're getting 17mpg US, then
you're getting 20.4 CAD gallon (British imperial) -to correct the
previous poster :o)

That is on par with the lower end of what we get with our 93 EVC, 5
spd, AAF (5cyl). Our range with 87 octane is about 20-22 CAD Mpg.

Hope this helps!

With my '92 Westfalia California (outside it looks the same as a Weekender, but with full camper outfit inside).

Original engine and tranny : 2.5L. 5 cylinders - 5 speed manual

Actually 186'800 km (116'000 miles) on the odometer

I got an average of 17.8 MPG (US)

At these usual speeds: 70-80 mph on highway, 50-55 mph on roads, 30-35 mph in city

i get 20 mpg on the highway, about 18 in town with a 2002 on 91
octane. i tried 87 octane, but lost 10% mileage. i tried the
transmission reset and i think it helped quite a bit. also just tried
icreased air pressure in tires.

My 99 GLS 12V VR6 has averaged 16.6 mpg over its life in gentle mainly
city driving. I get 18.5 at 65 MPH highway and 20.2 at 60 MPH.

Any one who thinks their EV gets better mileage at 70-75 than at 55-60
either has a bad calculator or severe delusions.

At an indicated 70mph, cruise control on, no A/C, windows up, I got 21.5mpg last December on the
way back to San Diego from Santa Maria. I'm not delusionary and my calculator worked.

Oh and that was with a '00 12V VR6 too.

With my I5/5 speed I get 22 on premium and 20 on regular on the road,
loaded and driving around 75.....very consistently.

Alain

April 2005. 4655 mostly highway miles.
From Vancouver to Loreto, Mexico and back in 1992 EVC with 2.5l I-5
engine: 19.6 mi/US gal (23.5mi/CDN gal).

Most expensive gas on the trip US was $ 2.69.9/per US gal Firebaugh,
California.

I've never measured city consumption.

On road trips where I do the driving (I tend to hold it strictly at 55
mph) I get 20-22. We always use Shell premium.
But most of our driving is actually around town, mostly commuting to
work with my carpool. My average for all of 2008 is 16.95 mpg. There
have been no long trips this year.

We just came back from a 4,200 mile roundtrip to South Dakota and
averaged about 22 mpg while traveling about 65 mph. Use only
premium. Fortunately, the van did great!

That's believable but that's not my point.

My point was that the implication that EV's get better mileage at
higher speeds is likely false. The efficiency gain in the engine would
have to be huge to overcome the increased resistance. See

g_and_mpg.html

There may be exceptions for some vehicles, but I doubt it for our uber
boxes.

Now I seem to have noticed increased mileage on 87 as opposed to 91
fuel - my imagination or bad calculator? I dunno.
