My supplier says he used the originals on his '93, but I think most alloys have a cone seat and not a ball type like the steel wheels. Also most alloys use 17mm bolts ant not 19mm. Either way, I have a source for lug bolts at reasonable prices. Steve Lashley SKL Enterprises Inc. 636-797-9015 636-789-2127 fax |

Just got a set of snows for my 99 EVC. Just wondering if anyone knows where to get a set of steel rims at a reasonable price? The place I got the tires from had rims listed, but they were OOS. Also, can I use any steel rim made for an EV with the correct bolt pattern, or does it, like the tires, need to have a more heavy duty load range rating? BTW, in case anyone is interested, I got the tires, 205/65R15C 102/100Q Nokian Hakkapeliitta CQs, at "etires.com". Truly EAB On Friday, December 6, 2002, at 06:10 PM, noneofyour damnbusiness wrote:

Steve, what have you got for lug bolts for those wheels?

Steve, investigate this matter carefully. I also opted for Audi wheels and

discovered it's difficult to find the correct 17mm ball-type seat that's LONG enough (35mm). When I searched for bolts I found 17mm ball-types that were 27mm long (fits stock Audi) and 19mm ball-typed that were 35mm long (fits stock EV) but I could not find 17mm ball-types that were 35mm long (to fit Audi wheels on the EV). I ended up finding 17mm ball-type seats that were 45mm long on eBay (for use with low-riders that use thick spacers for extra wide tracks) and then I manually hacksawed 10mm off of each bolt. It was pretty tedious. (BTW, the short 27mm Audi bolts WILL mount on the EV, but only FOUR threads catch. The bolts really need to be 35mm long.)

Steve, the lug nuts are the same for the '01 - steel wheels and alloys.
i also used the same when i went 18's from a Saab. if they fit they'll be fine. VW / Audi should be the same, and yes, both 19mm and 5 x 112mm bolt pattern. no need for bolts unless you get an aftermarket brand like TSW, etc. ChRiStOpHeR e LiNdEnBeRg rsibeetle@... t4bus_boy@... Not all VW and Audi are the same. Many Audi are 17mm, not 19mm and that

means a different size ball too. The ball must match the socket, especially on alloys. The length must be correct too. Don't assume, measure. Steve, the lug nuts are the same for the '01 - steel wheels and alloys. |
