Our '02 Eurovan Weekender (200k miles) is very gradually losing coolant, and before I bring it to a shop I'd like to hear what you folks think is the most likely cause. ?The "low coolant" light came on last week, and we saw the coolant tank looking low so we added coolant. ?Now it's low again, a few days later. ?Group thoughts would be much appreciated!

Puddles, drips (that smell like coolant, sweet) under van? Coolant odor inside van? Discoloration on coolant hoses or at lower radiator fittings or radiator body? Loose coolant hoses or bulging hoses? Loose hose clamps? Coolant overflow tank stained w/coolant? possibly cracked Moderate white smoke from exhaust? -- coolant leaking into engine Performance issues? How long has this been happening (what is "very gradually"? When weather hot? Cold(er)? When engine hot (after a long drive e.g.)? Any recent work performed on your vehicle? Last maintenace? |

开云体育Our 2000 did that a few years ago and we discovered it on a long trip. We went to several shops and one dealer while on the road. No one could figure it out. Finally when we got home, we took it to a local dealer who has folks who love Eurovans. They replaced the plastic bulb that holds the coolant. It worked! It had a very small opening between the two halves of the bulb and lost fluid gradually when the engine was very hot.? Good luck!? Bailey?
