Off topic on PC Popups

I know this is way off base but I have two friends that asked me about this problem.? They are getting popups from Norton and MaCafee that I can not get rid of.? I have added the links to the "Do Not Allow" under notifications and they still appear.? Doing a search on Google only brings up paid for apps.?
I suspect these popup are not from the associated sites directly.? On one of these PC's I have downloaded the MaCafee removal tool and that also did noy stop the popups.? Norton was never installed on both these PC's.
I figures there has to be some very knowledgeable folks lurking that might be able to help.

The removal/stop method often depends on the Brower each person is using. Do you know which browser each person is using? Mike Stone

I did go to this page and added the McAfee and Norton to the "Not Allowed". I'll go back to see if these two are under the "allowed" links. I should have watched the complete video before. I just linked in to the user PC with TeamViewer.? There are no URL's listed under the Allowed links to remove as per the YouTube video.

I had the user download Gaurdio or something like that and even though it stated "Free" it was only free after entering the Credit card info.? I was not going to have the user do this without knowing if this app really worked.

开云体育I'd be strongly suspecting that these popups are not, in fact, from McAfee or Norton. McAfee has a fairly good page on spotting and eliminating fake popups: In particular note that if setting the browser to block popups
from the claimed site is not working, that is another indication
that the popup did not originate with that site. (I can't tell
you, off the top of my head how to identify the actual source site
for popups; sorry.) Disclaimer - I haven't use Windoze for at least five years, so my
experience is quite dated. Donald.

Donald, I agree, these pop-ups are not from both McAfee and Norton but some other insidious hacker. Since they are on both Chrome and Edge, I would think they are imbedded in the registry some place. I am wondering if Malwarebytes and PrivaZer might be able to find and eliminate them.
